28-Day Prana Chikitsa Course

Online classes with Dr. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani & Yogathilikam Deepika Giri from the Gitananda Yoga Tradition

We are honoured to present a unique opportunity to study the authentic and deeply therapeutic science of Pranayama with Dr. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, successor to Swami Gitananda,
and Yogathilikam Deepika Giri, senior teacher and Pranayama lead of the Gitananda Yoga tradition.
This 4-session online course, spanning 28 days, introduces you to the Prana Chikitsa (healing
through pranic energy) approach to yogic breathwork. Drawing from classical yogic science and
modern medical insight, this course offers foundational practices designed to heal, cleanse, and
awaken the respiratory system, preparing you for deeper sadhana.

Course Format
Each session is taught live online, once a week, and introduces a specific section of breath-based
practice (Vibhaga Pranayama).
Participants are then encouraged to apply what they’ve learned through daily home practice
during the week. This rhythm of learning and integration continues across four weeks, creating a
structured 28-day breath-healing journey.

What will be covered?
The course focuses on Vibhaga Pranayama (sectional breathing) as the core technique for breath
awareness, healing, and control. You’ll also learn Hathenas (postures to open different sections of the lungs), Hasta Mudras (hand gestures), and Nada (sound) to enrich the experience of breath and
expand pranic flow.

Each week builds progressively:
Week 1: Adhama Pranayama – Lower Lungs
Awaken diaphragmatic breathing and bring grounding and calm into your system. Learn basic
hathenas to release tension and open the lower lung space.

Week 2: Madhyama Pranayama – Middle Lungs
Balance and uplift emotional energy by focusing on heart-centered breath. Practices target rib cage
expansion and mid-lung mobility.
Week 3: Adyama Pranayama – Upper Lungs
Activate the clavicular zone and awaken a sense of spaciousness and uplift. Begin integrating breath with subtle inner awareness.
Week 4: Mahat Yoga Pranayama – The Complete Breath
Bring together all sections of the lungs into a powerful, harmonious breath cycle. Cultivate presence, clarity, and healing from within.
